With the homeowner out of town, the housewatcher walked into the basement to discover her foot submerged in standing water. This 6000 square foot home, located in prestigious east Northbrook had sustained damage, wall to wall in its museum like 6000 square foot finished basement. 2 inches of water invaded the entire basement. The cause of this water intrusion was a frozen pipe which burst due to sub zero temperatures.
The Fire & Flood Restoration Specialists Emergency Response Team was on site, immediately. The water was extracted, the carpet, pad and wet furniture were removed. Many parts of all the walls, wet trim, and insulation needed to be removed. The custom built in furniture was removed, dried and refinished. The custom, permanently hung artwork was also removed, and restored to new condition.
Once the basement was dried and cleaned, restoration was performed, and the basement and all of its contents were ready for use again in 6 weeks.
